"Among all 36 vintages of Cain Five, the 2023 vintage is a Unicorn. This is the first
vintage in which Cabernet Sauvignon does not dominate, and Merlot, Cabernet Franc,
Malbec, and Petit Verdot each play significant roles. Not one of these varieties could be
called a “Supporting Actor” in the blend of the 2023 Cain Five. How was this “Unicorn”
born?
The beautiful dark color belies its seductive texture; deceptively delicate and smooth,
the 2023 Cain Five possesses a long finish that simply won’t quit. And it carries the
inimitable signature of the Cain Vineyard. With those lifted finest herbs aromatics, and
layered complexity coupled with the silky smooth tannins, it could only be the Cain Five, but a Cain Five unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before. As always, though drinking beautifully today, this wine will live on for decades.
The 2023 Cain Five is the third vintage harvested since the 2020 Glass Fire. As with the
first two vintages, the backbone is composed of surviving legacy vines, however now
some of the newly replanted vines have stepped up to make their own contributions to
