We choose our grapes based on what we believe would be a true lens through which we view California’s vast and diverse agriculture. Every year our picking decisions are based on multiple factors; a combination of weather, location, acidity, fruit development, and an overall authenticity in the fruit that has to be tasted to describe. That essence supersedes all of the agronomy that we use as a supporting role in this decision, and defines the potential of each harvest, every year. There is no formula, just a vision that varies from vintage to vintage.

Crafting Authentic Expressions of Vineyard & Vintage

Tilth wines express the unique personality of each vineyard site, sourcing fruit from four vineyards: Star, Stampede, Riddle, and Petaluma Gap. Keith Emerson is Tilth's winemaker, while his wife Holly manages the business side of operations. Beginning with the 2023 vintage, Keith brought over two decades of winemaking experience to Tilth, including his role as Director of Winemaking at Vineyard 29, where his work has earned a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate. Keith emphasizes sustainability and hands-on vineyard practices to create wines that are both precise and approachable, allowing the vineyard and the vintage to be star of the show.
