Cornerstone Cellars Cabernet Franc Oakville Station Vineyard Oakville Napa Valley 2021

Regular price $120.00

The small Cornerstone Cellars block of Cabernet Franc was planted in 1990 in the highly acclaimed UC Davis Oakville Station, in the center of “Cabernet Country." Located on the west side of the valley at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains, this vineyard takes its cue from its illustrious neighbors.

Abundant aromas of sweet ripe fruit bursts out of the glass. As with the aromas, on the palate you’ll find ample black berry, boysenberry, and black cherry. Lush on entry with ample fruit focused flavors, the secondary notes of dark chocolate with a hint of black licorice add to the complexity. Robust and full bodied in texture, this wine has the backbone needed for future cellaring, but the lush, supple tannins that let you know it is ready now.

The ancestral varietal of Cabernet Franc creates a wide spectrum of potential pairings. The bold assertive flavors make this a perfect match with grilled vegetables and many roasted pork dishes, including meatloaf.

93 Points, Decanter

Dark cranberry hue with aromas of blackberry, black tea, and baking spices. Soft, juicy, and round on entry with luscious blackberry flavors at the core, with a layer of vanilla and spice. The mid-palate is full and generous with complex flavors of ripe summer fruit and a bit of toasty oak. Yet, it has all the elegance you’d expect from Cabernet Franc grown in the heart of Oakville. The finish lingers with beautiful late summer fruit flavors, supple tannins, and balanced acidity. 123 cases produced.
