Adam Lee, founder of Siduri, is making the Status Quo wines. Fermented in stainless steel with 25% new French oak and aged for 14 months, this Sonoma Coast expression contrasts with its Russian River Valley counterpart by being more mineral-driven, taut and tension-filled. Dark-berry fruit, forest berries, cedar spice and deep forest underbrush character come through, with tremendous grip on the palate and a distinctive saline-acid tension. Medium-bodied, it carries a brooding, almost muscular quality, yet plenty of ethereal bright fruit and spice provide balance and lift.
