There is a remarkable concentration of ripe, succulent dark-cherry fruit here, lifted by exotic Chinese five spice, clove and orange-peel notes, with wet slate adding mineral nuance. A super-crunchy acid tension combines with red-fruit fleshiness on the mid-palate, building towards a structured finish. Tannins are present but well integrated, and this is an absolute porch-pounder of a Russian River Pinot Noir. Adam Lee, founder of Siduri, is making the Status Quo wines. Fermented in stainless steel with just 25% new French oak, aged for 14 months.
